Private Health

Many private health companies include Occupational Therapy services under ‘Extra’s cover’. Please contact your private health fund to find out whether your plan covers Occupational Therapy services. HICAPS facilities are available at the clinic.


Helping Children With Autism (HCWA) Government Funding

Synchrony Occupational Therapy is an approved provided for the Helping Children With Autism Early Intervention Initiative.  This plan entitles children under 7 years of age who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (including Pervasive Developmental Delay) to a total of $12000.  No more than $6000 can be used per financial year.  Up to $2100 of this yearly budget able to be used towards the purchase of resources and equipment that has been approved by your child’s therapist.  To access this funding you are required to have seen an Austism Advisor prior to your child’s sixth birthday.  The Autism Advisor will provide a ‘Letter of Introduction’ that must be brought to your therapy session.


Medicare Rebates:

Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM)

This plan entitles children with complex needs to 5 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year. The rebate is approximately $52.95 per session. In order to access this plan you need to gain a referral from your GP, it is then necessary to bring the completed referral form to your therapy session.

Better Access to Mental Health (BAMH)

This plan entitles children who experience a mental health condition to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year. The rebate ranges from approximately $50- $90 depending on the appointment type. In order to access this plan you need to gain a letter from your GP, paediatrician or psychologist which states the child’s condition, the number of sessions released and a statement that a Mental Health Treatment/Management Plan is in place. Eligible conditions include sleep problems, toileting difficulties, attention deficit, anxiety, social skills difficulties, anger management and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Helping Children WIth Autism (HCWA)

This plan entitles children with ASD to 4 Medicare rebated assessment sessions in the event that a diagnosis is being explored and a further 20 rebated treatment sessions. The rebate is approximately $74.80 per session. This is a lifetime benefit. In order to access this plan you need to gain a referral letter from your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist and bring this letter to your therapy session.

Better Start for Children with Disabilities (BSI)

This plan entitles children with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile X, Hearing Impairment or Visual Impairment to 4 Medicare rebated assessment sessions in the event that a diagnosis is being explored and a further 20 rebated treatment sessions. This is a lifetime benefit. In order to access this plan you need to gain a referral letter from your GP and bring this letter to your therapy session.
